Director Opening

About the Position

Every week, the Clark County Adventist Community Services Center provides food, clothing, and support to hundreds of individuals in our community. This ministry has been sustained for decades through the dedication of volunteers and faithful leadership.

We are now seeking a Director to continue supporting and strengthening this important work.
This role (20–25 hours per week) focuses on coordinating daily operations, supporting and organizing volunteers, and maintaining a welcoming, compassionate environment for those we serve.

The Director works alongside volunteers, local churches, and community partners to help ensure this ministry remains organized, effective, and responsive to the needs of the community.

We are seeking a Seventh-day Adventist who:
• Works well with people
• Communicates clearly and respectfully
• Demonstrates compassion, reliability, and leadership

This is an opportunity to build on a strong foundation and make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the Director actually do?

The Director helps coordinate the day-to-day operations of the Center. This includes organizing volunteer schedules, ensuring client services run smoothly, and helping maintain a welcoming and respectful environment for those we serve.

Is this a paid position?

This role is currently structured as a volunteer position focused on maintaining operations as they exist today. As the Center continues to grow, there is an expectation that expanded responsibilities and time commitments may lead to future compensation opportunities.

How many hours are expected?

The role typically requires 20–25 hours per week, mainly concentrated on Mondays and Tuesdays when The Center is open. Some weeks may be lighter or heavier depending on activity at the Center.

Do I need prior experience in community services?

Not necessarily. Experience working with people, organizing activities, or leading teams is helpful. A willingness to learn and a heart for service are just as important.

Will I be working alone?

No. The Center is supported by a strong group of volunteers. The Director works alongside them, helping coordinate efforts and provide structure and support.

Do I need to be a Seventh-day Adventist?

Yes. Because the Center is a ministry supported by Adventist churches, the Director must be a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

What kind of person is a good fit for this role?

Someone who is:

  • Comfortable working with a variety of people
  • Organized and dependable
  • Able to communicate clearly
  • Compassionate and service-minded

What support will be available?

The Director will have support from volunteers, the advisory committee, and local church partners. This is not a role where you are expected to figure everything out on your own.

What are the biggest challenges of the role?

Like any volunteer-driven organization, balancing schedules, volunteer and client communication, and day-to-day needs can be challenging. The role requires patience, flexibility, and a steady approach.
